Dannae Soto

Dannae Soto

Dannae Soto was an attendee of the 21st Century Afterschool Program at Rita Cannan Elementary from the onset of the program in 2004 as a 5th Grader. As a 6th grader at Rita Cannan Elementary she was awarded the Dean’s Future Scholar Award from the University of Nevada, Reno. This award has allowed her academic career to be followed by the Dean’s Future Scholars and at the conclusion of her 12 year career as a student of Washoe County, with an upstanding academic performance as well as a remarkable overall citizen she will be awarded a scholarship to the University of Nevada, Reno. Although she is only a junior at Sparks High School in Sparks, Nevada, she is well on her way to not only receive the Dean’s Future Scholarship award from the University of Nevada, Reno but also to be one of the most recognized Rita Cannan students to have continued to be a fundamental asset to the success of the Rita Cannan students that strive to follow in her footsteps. Out of the six courses she is enrolled in at Sparks High school, three of those are Advanced Placement Courses. Dannae is a noteworthy student but also a stellar athlete. Not only has she been named the 2009 and 2010 Offensive Player of the Year in Soccer at Sparks Highschool, been named the Player of the Week by the Sparks Tribune, is a member of INCA Soccer Team of Northern Nevada, acted as a crucial influence as a volunteer coach of the first Rita Cannan 21st Century TEAM UP Afterschool Soccer Team, but also has played a vital mentor for the students in the Rita Cannan TEAM UP Afterschool Program. Ms. Soto is the epitome of the student leader and young philanthropist we strive to raise at Rita Cannan Elementary and the TEAM UP Afterschool Program. She has carried a 3.0 grade point average throughout her high school career, been an outstanding athlete and still has found the time to give back to the younger generations of her community that continue to look up to her.
