Best Friends Mark Wade, Director and Ron Scipio, President/Executive Director of Free 2 B Me Sports motivated, inspired and encouraged participants at Showcase Nevada. Free 2 B Me Sports is an organization whose mission is to mentor, educate, and steer kids down the right path in life, with education through sports. Participants at Showcase Nevada: The Afterschool Experience were pleased with the fact locals were giving back to their community! These up-lifting non-educators developed an educational model to serve their message: Extraordinary! Thank you Ron and Mark for helping us visualize the resulting products of our dedication to students after school hours. “As a principal, I need to help create that passion again after school hours” Principal in a Nevada School.

Jason Littlefield is being honored by Keith Rheault, Superintendent of the Nevada Department Education at Showcase Nevada: The AfterSchool Experience. Jason and his mother flew to Reno to speak about the benefits and great opportunities the afterschool program at Garside Junior High School G-Squared located in Clark County School District offers him. "Jason routinely participates in afterschool programs that assist in improving his school, his academics, and his relationships with others. His academic performances have improved to the point where he scored a 500 on the math portion of the CRT during his 6th grade year. He is one of the most helpful, willing, and interesting young people in Garside's after school program.” Joel Broome, G-Squared Site Leader

Teachers at C.P. Squires Elementary School in Clark County nominated two brothers, Giovanne and Walter Ulloa to fly to Reno to share their story of how they became involved in afterschool and how they now are giving back to their Tiger Time program.

Giovanne shared his experience in the Tiger Time afterschool program during the 4th grade: I remember a field trip to the Rainforest Café. We learned about the animals and their habitats, but the best part was we got to eat at the Rainforest Café. Another favorite memory was that our room was called the “Swamp”, because my teacher loved science and had a lot of animals. The transition to middle school was a bit of a challenge for Giovanne as he missed the staff and the afterschool program at C.P. Squires. Giovanne volunteers his time afterschool at C.P. Squires where the staff continues to support his academic needs and he can give back to the program.

Walter is a senior at Rancho High School and a volunteer with the Physical Education class during the day and a student worker in the Tiger Time afterschool program at C.P. Squires. The thing that inspires me and keeps me motivated is working with the Elementary students in the After School Program. I am able to use my athletic skills and give advice to kids that do not have a positive role model. Knowing that I am an example to the younger kids makes me want to be a better person. One of my goals is to get a full time job in after school programming and to go to college. Working in Tiger Time, the C. P. Squires After School Program has inspired me to go to college and continue working with children.
